Electro-acupuncture adds benefit to usual care for back pain
Electro-acupuncture (EA) combined with usual care (UC) is more effective than UC alone for pain reduction and functional improvement in patients with non-acute low back pain (LBP) after back surgery. Korean researchers randomised 108 participants to either UC alone, or UC plus EA treatment, twice a week for four weeks. After four weeks of treatment, significant between-group differences were observed for pain in favour of the UC plus EA group.
