Laser acupuncture helps recovery after knee replacement
Acupuncture with low-level laser therapy (ALLLT) can facilitate the recovery of physical function in patients after total knee replacement, report Taiwanese researchers. Eighty-two osteoarthritis patients were randomly assigned to receive ALLLT or sham on days 1, 2 and 3 after total knee replacement surgery. The experimental group displayed better knee joint flexion and less stiffness on days 2 and 3 than the control group.
